PE and Sport Premium
Schools receive the PE and Sport premium based on the number of pupils in Years 1-6. Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.
Here at The Ellis our wider curriculum is paramount to creating a broad and balanced school life for our children. We pride ourselves on the experiences the children receive and use the sport premium grant to support this. Children comment positively on sport at The Ellis and clubs are often oversubscribed and the amount of children attending events or having opportunities in school continues to grow.

The School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels. The School Games mark is an award that has to be applied for annually. It is a recognised award by Ofsted for the commitment to PE and wide range of activities offered in school. Last year we achieved Silver award. This year, we have achieved Gold award.
Some of the criteria for the award are:
– all pupils are provided with an opportunity to take on leadership roles during curriculum PE
– engage at least 15% of students in leading, managing and officiating in School Games activity
– have a School Sport Organising Committee or Crew in place that influence provision
– utilise sports coaches to support school sport
– train wider school staff to support school sport.
– Provide experiences for all children in school to attend competitions
– Attend a higher number of competitions as a school
– Provide a change4life club (cooking club)

– + Many more
I am constantly striving to improve PE and wider curriculum experiences for children in school. If you have any ideas, specialist expertise or suggestions to improve experiences in school or links to local clubs that are looking for players please don’t hesitate to contact me in school. If any parents would be interested in a parent and child after school club please let me know.
