GDPR Statement
On May 25th 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect across the EU. It is a new law that has been implemented in exactly the same way across all EU countries to create a level set of rules to ensure all data held and processed by organisations within the EU is secure and is processed lawfully.
You will no doubt have received communications from all kinds of businesses, including any you shop or bank with, so this may be something you are already aware of.
Public organisations, including schools, are required to comply with GDPR in the same way. We would like to reassure you that we have been working on our GDPR readiness over a number of years and are compliant with GDPR.
Our school has always highly valued and protected all of its pupil, parent/carer and staff information – and will continue to do so now the GDPR legislation has been enacted.
We have strong Data Protection policies and protections in place, and these have been updated and reviewed by the governing body in line with GDPR. This means that the school website has been updated with improved policies and privacy notices. You can find these on our Policies page under Virtual Office.
The Ellis Primary School has a designated Data Protection Officer (DPO), who guides the school and works to ensure full compliance with GDPR. The DPO can be contacted with any queries using the following email address or in writing to the school:
Mr Tim Pinto
